KARACHI – The prime suspect behind the killing of social worker and director of Orangi Pilot Project Perween Rehman was arrested from Karachi’s western district by the law enforcement agencies on late Friday night
Sources said that the suspect, identified as Rahim Swati, had fled Karachi after shooting Rehman dead in year 2013. He is also said to be involved in several political killings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The authorities were searching high and wide for his arrest.
It should be noted that two suspects in the case have already been killed by the law enforcement agencies. Rehman had worked tirelessly and fearlessly for the poor people of Karachi (especially Orangi) before she was gunned down by armed assailants on March 13, 2013.
Her organisation was aimed at sheltering the poor in Orangi and providing them with proper housing and sanitation facilities.
