PESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah has decided to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a private TV channel reported on Saturday.
Iftikhar will formally announce his decision in a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak later in the day. This comes a day after Raja Riaz, a senior Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader and former opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, joined the PTI during the party’s rally in Faisalabad.
Iftikhar was a former governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (the then NWFP). After his retirement from the army in 2000, he was appointed as minister for communications and later became governor of Pakhtunkhwa, a position which he held for four and half years. He also served as an ambassador in Turkey.
